Commemoration of Sainted and Confessor Paul the Simple-Minded

Память святителя и исповедника Павла Простодушного
Today our Church honors the memory of the simple confessor Paul.

St. Paul was called simple because he was an illiterate farmer, but at the same time a humble and lowly man. His wife was the complete opposite. He presented himself as noble and ridiculed Hosea, even going so far as to betray the marital bed.

When Paul became convinced of her infidelity, he was not angry, but left her with love and humility and decided to devote himself to a secluded life.

That is why he went to the desert of Egypt under Anthony the Great, where, performing obedience, he developed rich ascetic virtues and was claimed by the Holy Spirit with the gift of miracle-working and consoling people. He fell asleep in old age.

Beloved, the associations of the Saints teach us that everything in this life is human. The one who transforms and adorns them is the grace of God, the Power of the Holy Spirit.
