On June 16, 2024, the Week of the Holy Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council, the academic year of this year's graduates of the Orthodox Theological Seminary in Warsaw came to a close.
After the Holy Liturgy, the address to the graduates by His Eminence Fr. Jerzy Tofiluk, rector of the seminary, encouraged people to serve the Church. He also expressed the hope that students leaving the seminary would remember their teachers, thanks to whom the time spent at their alma mater brought to the seminarians, in addition to intellectual development, something more valuable, namely spiritual growth. This leaven should be used to deepen faith and develop in prayer in order to draw closer to God. The Rector emphasized that the doors of the seminary and chapel are always wide open to all students.
On behalf of the graduates, words of gratitude were expressed by Fr. Alexey Adamchuk, who quoted a passage from the "Letter of St. Apostle Paul to the Hebrews, emphasized the important role of pedagogy in life and reminded us of the need to remember our teachers who laid the foundations of faith in Christ. The priest expressed his deep hope that the paternal love given by the teachers will return to them doubly, and the students will remember them in their prayers.
Then there was a solemn presentation of diplomas and gifts to the graduates. Drawing attention to the connection of the fathers of the Council of Nicaea in 325 with the With the completion of seminary education, His Majesty emphasized the role of self-discipline, conscientiousness and consistency in action. Good preparation for pastoral ministry must take place on both intellectual and practical levels. Time management is something that students should have learned in the seminary, because accomplishing tasks is one of the indicators of maturity and responsibility needed in priestly ministry. The priest expressed hope that the university has prepared the basics that will bring the expected results in the form of more priests in the coming years.
