With the blessing of His Eminence Paisios, Archbishop of Peremyshl and Gorlice, scientific symposia were held on October 28 at the Congress Center of the Polish Republic, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the autocephaly of our Church "Renewed with the Republic of Poland". On November 13, 1924, the Polish Orthodox Church received jurisdictional independence - autocephaly from the Mother Church of the Patriarchate of Constantinople. This fact is an opportunity to look back on the complex and at the same time beautiful history of the Polish Orthodox Church, revived together with the Republic of Poland. Painful experiences and fidelity to Orthodoxy have led to the spiritual enrichment of our faithful, thanks to whom we are here and now, bearing witness to our history and today. - emphasized in the introduction to the symposiums Archbishop Paisiusz, ordinariate of the Przemyśl-Horlicka Diocese.
The topics of the symposia were: the concept of autocephaly, the personality of Metropolitan Dionysius, the legal position of the Church in the Second Polish Republic, the oldest historical relics of the Przemysl Diocese, the position of the Orthodox Church in 1948, autocephaly. Churches of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, revival of Orthodoxy in Lemkivshchyna. Profiles of the Orthodox chaplains of the Katyn Martyrs Fr. Onufriy Sapega and his tragic fate as an Orthodox priest and the path of Irinei Khanate to Orthodoxy.

With great interest the audience listened to the memories of former member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland Eugene Cikwin about how the Act on Relations between the State and the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church was born. The symposium also included the presentation of the book "The Word in Captivity and Other Essays" by its author Anna Radziukiewicz.
His Excellency Archbishop Paisius of Przemyśl and Gorlicki awarded St. Paisius with diocesan medals in gratitude for his work for the good of the Church. priest Martyr Maxim Gorlicki, Eugeniusz Cikwin and Anna Radziukiewicz.
The symposium was accompanied by an exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the of the autocephaly of the SACP, and a concert of Orthodox church music performed by the "Cleros" choir of the Elpis Diocesan Cultural Center. priest Fr. Yaroslav Hrych.
The event was organized by the Diocesan Centre of Orthodox Culture "Elpis" in Gorlice, co-organized by the Orthodox Diocese of Przemysl-Horlice and the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of the University of Prešov (Slovakia).
