.«Northern Phivaide» — poetic name of the northern Russian lands surrounding Vologda and Belozersk. Such a concept appeared as a comparison with the ancient Egyptian region of Phivaida, a place of settlement of early Christian monks-hermits.
In the XIV-XVI centuries, the Novgorod region became a famous place of settlement of monks. The Monks Dionisius of Glushitsy, Joasaph of Kubensk, Demetrius of Prilutsk, Cyril of Belozersk, Athanasius and Theodosius of Cherepovets and others ascended here. The holy ascetics were disciples of St. Sergius of Radonezh.
Settling in the Volga region, Athanasius and Theodosius founded there the city of Cherepovets, which became part of «Northern Thevaida». In honor of the founders the Cathedral of St. Athanasius and Theodosius of Cherepovets was built, which is a special place of attraction not only for locals but also for tourists. The Church of the Holy Trinity and the Resurrection Cherepovets Monastery were also built here.
The movie was attended by Metropolitan Savva of Vologda and Kirillovsk,Bishop Ignatiy of Cherepovets and Belozersk, abbots of churches and monasteries, local historians.
