On August 10, 2024, with the blessing of Metropolitan Nikodim of Novosibirsk and Berd, the church ship of the Novosibirsk Diocese «Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called

Saint Apostle Andrew the First-Called set off on another voyage.

In 2024, the missionaries will travel down the Ob River and visit a number of settlements in the Bolotnensky, Moshkovsky, Kolyvansky and Novosibirsk districts. The campaign will last from August 10 to August 26.

In the framework of the spiritual-educational and charitable mission organized by the Novosibirsk Metropolis with the support of regional authorities, clergymen, doctors of various specialties, social workers work in hard-to-reach settlements and provide local residents with spiritual, medical and social help.

On August 10, the participants of the action were seen off by Metropolitan Nikodim of Novosibirsk and Berdsky and Deputy Governor of the Novosibirsk region S.A. Nelyubov. In the church of the ship-church Vladyka Nikodim, accompanied by the clergy of the diocese, performed a prayer service for those traveling and blessed the missionaries on their way.

Metropolitan Nicodemus noted the significance of the annual spiritual-educational and socially charitable action, and also the importance of cooperation between the diocese, the Novosibirsk Region Government and the public in helping the people of the region: «Everything necessary for a person's life, important medical and social assistance, comes to the person, right to his or her very home. Of course, all this is happening because we see in this very important matter the cooperation of both the Novosibirsk Metropolitan Church and the leadership of the Novosibirsk Region. We are working together for the benefit of the residents and doing a very necessary thing for the people»

.

Sergey Nelyubov on behalf of the Governor thanked Metropolitan Nicodemus and all the participants of the action for the realization of this important social initiative: «The charitable action takes place at a fertile time for the villagers, before the harvest and the school year. In the organization of this action, as well as in many other good deeds, manifests many years of fruitful interaction and cooperation of regional and municipal authorities with the Novosibirsk Metropolis of the Russian Orthodox Church. I want to thank all participants of the mission — clergymen and doctors, workers of social sphere and education — for readiness to go and help people, for work on spiritual and moral education and strengthening the health of villagers, for patriotism and mercy»

.

The first charitable voyage of the church ship «St. Andrew the First-Called » was held in 1996. For 28 years of work, about 125 thousand people were able to communicate with clergymen, undergo medical examinations, receive consultations from social protection specialists, and low-income residents received free targeted assistance. It is planned that in 2024 residents of 49 settlements will be able to meet with clergymen, medical workers and representatives of social protection agencies of the region.
