On January 24 this year in Brussels, in the European Parliament, a conference entitled "Preservation of the cultural and spiritual heritage of Nagorno-Karabakh" was held, organized on the initiative of the European Parliament.

Tigran Balayan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Kingdom of Belgium, Head of the Mission of Armenia to the European Union, and Miriam Lexman, Member of the European Parliament, made opening remarks at the event.

On Azerbaijan's policy of attacking Armenian holy places, destroying historical and cultural values, as well as on the urgency of steps to be taken by the international community in this direction, H.E. With the blessing of the Second Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin, the Director of the Preaching Center of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and the Head of the Artsakh Department for Spiritual and Cultural Heritage made a report. In his report, His Holiness called for the protection of the cultural and religious heritage of Nagorno-Karabakh, respect for the freedom of religion and belief enshrined in a number of international treaties, as well as the opportunity for representatives of Nagorno-Karabakh an independent UNESCO assessment mission will visit the region and document the status of the cultural monuments.
