The Catholicos of All Armenians received Cardinal Claudio Guggerotti

On February 19, H.H. Karekin, the Second Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received in Holy Etchmiadzin the Primate Cardinal Claudio Gugerotti, President of the Presbyteral Chancery of the Eastern Catholic Churches, who arrived in Armenia at the invitation of His Holiness the Patriarch.

During the conversation His Eminence recalled with satisfaction the years of the latter's service in Armenia as Papal Nuncio and his warm attitude towards the Mother See. The Armenian Patriarch also expressed gratitude to Cardinal Guggerotti for his contribution to Armenian studies.


The Armenian Patriarch spoke with satisfaction about the fraternal cooperation between the Armenian Apostolic and Roman Catholic Churches and then expressed to Cardinal Guggerotti his concerns about the difficult situation in the region and the security challenges facing Armenia.


At the meeting the problems related to the life of Christian communities in the Middle East were also discussed. The unification of efforts of Christian Churches for the establishment of peace and solidarity in the life of mankind was emphasized.


At the end the Catholicos of All Armenians conveyed brotherly good wishes to Pope Francis.
