On Monday, May 14 / 27, 2024, His Beatitude received a group of Russian-speaking believers under the jurisdiction of the Patriarchate, under the pastoral care of the Abbot of the Monastery of the First-Faithful Apostles Peter and Paul in Capernaum, monk Irinarhom.
The Russian-speaking believers of Northern Israel are served by the Patriarchate in their religious needs in this holy monastery.
At this meeting, His Beatitude explained to the members of this group that they have the precious blessing of belonging to the Church of Jerusalem, which is the Mother of Churches because it was watered by the atoning blood of Jesus Christ, "it was the first to receive absolution by the Resurrection."
"In the Jerusalem Church," His Beatitude continued, "the Apostle Paul's saying applies, that 'there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, barbarian nor Scythian, slave nor free, but every one and in all Christ' (Col. 3:11).
Members of the Russian-speaking community in Israel are spiritual children of the Jerusalem Patriarchate and at the same time politically belong to the State of Israel, they hold Israeli identity cards.
The State of Israel knows and recognizes their situation and assists them in their daily lives.
His Beatitude praised the work of His Eminence Metropolitan Kiriak of Nazareth, His
Eminence Metropolitan Kiriak of Nazareth, His His Eminence Archbishop Aristovul of Madava and Monk Irinarch and blessed this group who came to venerate the Holy Sepulchre.
