The first trip of Diana Nevzorova, Chief Outside Specialist in Palliative Care of the Ministry of Health of Russia, to the conflict zone to get acquainted with the organization of palliative care for adults took place. «Our trip turned out to be intense. The main out-of-state specialist in palliative care was tasked with identifying the most urgent needs of the regions we visited. Next year the state plans to allocate federal subsidies for assistance in this area, and assessment of the current situation is especially important now. Sisterhoods were established last year after training courses at the Training Center of St. Alexis Hospital. Their help in caring for patients is very important, as hospitals lack nursing staff.
The St. Alexis Church Hospital has become one of the main centers for palliative care in Russia. Since 2016, the clinic has been providing inpatient care to critically ill patients in Moscow, as well as in branches in the Moscow region and Ivanovo region. A mobile patronage service operates on the basis of three branches in the regions. The licensed Training Center of St. Alexis Hospital provides training in nursing care in Moscow and in the regions. In five years of operation, the Training Center has trained more than 5,000 nurses in nursing. After training volunteers, sisterhoods are established in dioceses, for example, in Pereslavl-Zalessky, Yaroslavl, Lugansk, Gorlovka, and Berdyansk.
The St. Alexis Hospital has been providing aid to the victims in Donbass and other regions since March 2022. During this time, 1,696 people have turned to the hospital in Moscow for help. 703 patients underwent inpatient treatment and were discharged. From the conflict zone, the hospital brought for treatment in its own ambulance car assistance to 398 patients. 1,081 people completed courses in wounded care at the St. Alexis Hospital Training Center. Care volunteers are sent weekly to medical facilities in Gorlovka, Luhansk, Starobelsk and Makeyevka to care for critically ill patients, and also help in hospitals in Moscow and the Moscow region. Centers for prosthetics and medical adaptation have been opened in Horlivka and Moscow, where the hospital provides medical and social assistance to people with amputations.
The Hospital of St. Alexis — a medical institution of the Russian Orthodox Church, a multidisciplinary medical institution for 290 beds. The hospital treats people from all regions of Russia, regardless of religion. Branches have been opened in the Ivanovo, Moscow and Yaroslavl regions. There is a licensed Training Center to train nurses to care for patients.
