A significant meeting took place within the walls of the Church of the Blessed Tsarevich Demetrius, located at the First Grad Hospital of the capital. Bishop Panteleimon of Verey, chairman of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service, gathered with active volunteers of the Orthodox aid service 'Miloserdiye'.
During the meeting, the bishop discussed with the volunteers the essence of the feast of the Nativity of Christ and shared his vision of how important it is to celebrate this day, especially in the context of helping those in need. Bishop Panteleimon emphasized that the remembrance of Christmas events should be transferred into active participation and embodiment of the spirit of the holiday in our days.
Special attention was paid to the question of how best to congratulate the wards of the 'Mercy' service on Christmas. The bishop emphasized that not so much material gifts, but personal attention and sincere communication are important for the people whom the service helps.
During the meeting the volunteers also had an opportunity to ask their questions to the bishop, discuss their ideas and receive spiritual guidance.
The 'Miloserdiye' service in Moscow has more than 1200 volunteers actively participating in the life of the community and providing assistance to more than 300 wards. Volunteers are involved in Various social projects: from working with children, including children with disabilities, to supporting large families and lonely elderly people.
Meetings of new volunteers are held every Sunday at 11.45 a.m. in the Church of the Blessed Tsarevich Dimitriy at 8 Leninsky Prospekt, Bldg. 12, Moscow. Anyone wishing to join the charity and provide their assistance can fill out a questionnaire and attend these meetings.
