Yeniseisk, July 9, 2024.
On July 2, 2024, Bishop Ignatiy of Yeniseisk and Lesosibirsk consecrated the icon of the "Royal Passion Bearers" in the Epiphany Cathedral of the city of Yeniseisk, reports Yenisei Museum-Reserve.
The icon was painted by Roman Ilyinykh, a member of the Union of Artists of Russia and Krasnoyarsk iconographer specially for a joint project - an exhibition of archival photographs of the family of Russian Emperor Nicholas II, "Service. Mercy. Love.", timed to coincide with the celebration of the Year of the Family in the Russian Federation.
The main content of the exhibition reveals the life history of Emperor Nicholas II, Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, Tsarevich Alexei and Grand Duchesses Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia, depicted in photographs of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The author of the collected collection of photographs of the family of Emperor Nicholas II is Hieromonk Ignatius (Shestakov), a resident of the Sretensky Monastery in Moscow. The exhibition presents three main themes: life and family relations in the circle of the royal family, service to the Fatherland (primarily military) and mercy. All three themes are united by a common goal to show the life of the royal family of the Passion Bearers as Christian sacrificial service to their neighbors, the Fatherland and the Church. The exhibition is based on photographs related to the life and reign of Emperor Nicholas II, some of which were taken personally by the Emperor and members of his family. The photo exhibition, created in 2016, has visited many cities and different countries (Argentina, Canada, Romania, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, etc.) and will be presented for the first time in the Cultural and Historical Center on the territory of the Assumption Monastery in Krasnoyarsk. Until the end of 2024, the exhibition project will visit many cities of the Krasnoyarsk region and, returning to Yeniseisk, the icon "Royal Passion-Bearers" will take its permanent place in the Epiphany Cathedral.
As the main initiator of the exhibition project in the diocese and the region Vladyka Ignatius notes, the image of the Royal Family is especially relevant and important today in the Year of the Family.
The family of the last Russian Emperor is for our contemporaries an excellent example of sacrificial service to neighbor, Fatherland and the Church, and especially - real, sincere, Christian love in the family circle, an example of raising children and marital fidelity.
