It has already become a tradition that on November 11, when we celebrate the Independence Day of our Motherland, the Tarnogrudskiy Orthodox Parish celebrates a feast dedicated to the Tarnogrudskiy Icon of the Mother of God and St. Leontius of Tarnogrudskiy.

This year's celebration of the feast at the local parish began on Sunday evening, November 10, 2024, with an all-night vigil, led by Father Mitrat Wlodzimierz Klimiuk, assisted by Father Father Father Jaroslaw Szczur, Father Father Father Corneliusz Wilkel, Priest Father David Bruczyk and Deacon Roman Kalitan. During the All-Night Vigil, the Akathist was read before the Tarnogrudsk Icon of the Mother of God.

On November 11, 2024, the feast day of St. Mary, the Liturgy was led by His Excellency Archbishop Abel, Ordinary of the Diocese of Lublin-Chelm, assisted by the clergy. Traditionally, the hierarch was welcomed by representatives of children and youth with flowers, the headman of the church and the parish priest with bread and salt. After reading fragments of the Gospel, Archbishop Abel delivered a sermon. According to him, the hierarch paid special attention to the help and intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St.. Leontius in the present difficult times.

During the St. Liturgy the choir under the direction of Mother Maria Kalitan, the psalmist of the parish in Bilgoray.


The Christmas celebrations ended with a prayer service . Then Archbishop Abel addressed the faithful, thanking everyone for their joint prayer and presence. His Excellency thanked the parish priest for 46 years of dedicated service in Tarnogród and wished him good luck in the ongoing work of renovating the historic church. The parish priest Fr. Mitrat Wlodzimierz Klimiuk then thanked the hierarch for his leadership of the St. Liturgy, clergy, guests and faithful.
