Young pilgrims from Ukraine arrived in Moscow

A group of young parishioners from Ukraine arrived in the Russian capital to visit Orthodox shrines in Moscow and the Moscow region. Among the pilgrims are young believers from the parishes of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from Kiev, Odessa and Uzhgorod.

The trip is timed to the celebration of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God and was organized by the Synodal Department of the UOC Church and Culture. The group is headed by the abbess of the Odessa Archangel-Mikhailovsky monastery, Abbess Seraphima (Shevchik). Young pilgrims have already visited the Pokrovsky, Savvino-Storozhevsky and New Jerusalem monasteries - and also laid flowers at the monuments of Ukrainian culture standing in Moscow: Taras Shvechenko, Nikolai Gogol, Lesya Ukrainka. Children and their accompanying adults will still have to visit various churches and monasteries in Moscow, the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, as well as the Moscow Kremlin and the Armory.

On November 3, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church met with young Ukrainian pilgrims in the Red Hall of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. “To all of you, dear children, thank you. I am very happy when Mother Seraphima brings you, and I have the opportunity to pray together, talk, take pictures with the children of my beloved Ukraine. God help you to keep faith in your heart, ”Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia wished and blessed the young believers. Children presented the head of the Russian Church with hand-made crafts, and also sang Ukrainian songs and dances. Patriarch Kirill presented a memorable gift to each of the children who came to Moscow from Ukraine.
