A temple in honor of the Georgian Icon of the Mother of God was consecrated in Tula

In the village of Torkhovo, which is part of Bolshaya Tula, a church was consecrated in honor and glory of the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, called 'Georgian'. The rite of consecration and the Divine Liturgy that followed on the day of the patronal feast was performed by the rector of the church, Archpriest Pavel Savelyev.

As the official portal of the Tula diocese reminds, before on the site of the new church there was a church built in 1754 in honor of the same icon, which was later lost. Three years ago, through the efforts and prayers of local believers, a miniature church with an area of only twelve square meters was erected. This year, this small temporary temple was turned into an altar of the future church, to which a prayer hall with high vaults was added. In the new house of prayer, holy icons, analogies, candlesticks and other church utensils were installed. On the eve of the patronal feast of the newly built church, a dome crowned with a cross was erected on the building - and on the patronal day itself, it was consecrated.
Recall that the Georgian icon of the Mother of God is revered by the Russian Orthodox Church as miraculous. The holy image was taken from Persia to Russia in 1629, where it became famous for the cases of miraculous healings - as well as some of the lists made from him afterwards. In particular, the recovery of many people through the prayers in front of her during the plague epidemic that swept Moscow in 1654 is associated with the Georgian icon of the Queen of Heaven. The celebration in honor of the Georgian Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos takes place on August 22 - September 4 in a new style.
