Construction of the Church of the Great Martyr Barbara begins in Norilsk

In Talnakh, the Norilsk region, the construction of a temple began in the name of the great martyr Barbara, the heavenly patroness of all those whose life is connected with labor in the bowels of the earth. As the Severny Gorod portal recalls, the construction site unfolded at the site where the laying of the stone was consecrated in September 2018 by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill, who then came to Norilsk.

Talnakh, a district of the city on the right bank of the Norilskaya River, is sometimes called the “ore capital of Russia”. Copper-nickel ore deposits have been developed here for sixty years. Most of the inhabitants of the region, with a population of 50,000, are miners working up to two kilometers underground, as well as their families. But there is only one temple in this area - Trinity, which can accommodate no more than one hundred and fifty worshipers. Therefore, local residents turned to the city administration with a request to build a more spacious temple. Funds for its construction were allocated by Norilsk Nickel. Currently, the development of the pile field of the temple complex is underway; The project is being implemented by the Moscow company 'Satori', which has already built a temple of the New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church in Norilsk. In the meantime, in Talnakh on a million rubles, collected by local residents, installed an icon case with an icon of the Great Martyr Barbara - in the park, at the beginning of the Pioneer Street.

The future complex in the name of the holy Great Martyr Barbara - five-domed, one-story - will be able to simultaneously accommodate five hundred believers. The builders plan to complete its construction in the second quarter of 2022.
