In Kiev, on Trinity, a rainbow glow appeared in the sky around the sun

On the Great Feast of the Trinity, the Ukrainian believers, who watched the broadcast of the solemn service from the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, saw in the sky above the temple a bright rainbow glow around the sun - a halo. Still images of the miraculous phenomenon, captured by a video camera, appeared on the official page of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on the facebook social network.

In the Orthodox tradition, this phenomenon, observed from time to time during the consecration of churches and other important events of church life, is viewed as a good sign - a manifestation of the mercy of the Lord God to believers. This time, the halo around the solar disk was noticed exactly when the Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine Onufry, in his festive sermon, began to speak of the sun as 'the brightest creation of the Triune Deity, which brings light and warmth to people.' One of the cameramen who filmed the service decided at that time to catch a light in the sky through the lens of his camera - and those watching the broadcast saw a rainbow halo around him.

Halo as an optical phenomenon in the atmosphere is well known to scientists and is a secondary glow around the sun or a powerful artificial light source. It is interesting to note that On Trinity, the same radiance around the heavenly body was observed by the inhabitants of the Holy Trinity Iona Monastery in Kiev, who gathered for common prayer.
