30 December 2020
On the eve of the New Year and Christmas, 17 kids from the Orphanage at Correctional Colony No. 3 of the Krasnodar Territory, as well as 110 women convicts in this correctional institution, were brought gifts - glasses made in accordance with individual parameters, educational toys, diapers and other necessary babies things. Прихожане собрали шестьдесят подарочных наборов для малышей и их мам As part of the 'Bright Look' campaign, ophthalmologists from the northern capital of Russia examined about two hundred women serving sentences in the Kuban colony, conducting an accurate diagnosis of vision. And on December 25, each of them received glasses in the frame that each of the convicts chose independently. An entrepreneur from St. Petersburg, Lyudmila Kharchenko, presented the women with ready-made glasses. Thanks to the organizers of the 'Bright Look' campaign, women will be able to freely read books, including those containing Orthodox prayers, as well as work in a sewing factory operating at the correctional institution. The convicts prepared a festive concert for the guests and benefactors. Sixty holiday sets for children from the Orphanage at the women's colony No. 3 were collected by the parishioners of Krasnodar church in honor of the icon of the Mother of God 'Healer'. Gifts to mothers of babies were presented by Mikhail Shmelev, a representative of the regional branch of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society, Lily Ketsman, a representative of the Main Delo charitable foundation, and Vyacheslav Klimenko, a priest of the Healer icon parish from the regional center. Оправу для очков каждая из женщин выбрала самостоятельно Seventeen children, from newborns to three years old, are growing in the Children's Home at the Women's Correctional Institution. All of them were born when their mothers were in jail or were already serving sentences in a colony. The orphanage is located in a special building, where babies are provided with constant care, and each of the mothers has the opportunity to communicate with her son and daughter for several hours every day. Upon reaching the age of three, children are usually handed over to relatives of convicts or to an orphanage, but more often their mothers are already released by this time. The traditions of Orthodox charity, helping those in captivity for the sake of the Lord Jesus Christ, have existed in Russia for several centuries. The South Russian information portal Obzor notes that for convicts, and especially women, such support is very important: it reminds that there are many caring people in the wild, that society remembers and takes care of them.
