A stork joins the procession in Belarus

On the eve of the feast of the miraculous icon of the Mother of God 'Belynichskaya', a religious procession took place in the Republic of Belarus along the route Mogilev - Belynichi. When the prayer procession with the venerated image of the Queen of Heaven, glorifying the Lord God, followed the Mogilev-Minsk highway, a stork joined it. He followed the Crusaders on the asphalt, only from time to time rising into the sky when he began to lag behind.

Some of the participants in the procession tried to drive the bird away, fearing that it might get hit by a car - but the stork, symbolizing purity, chastity and piety in Christian culture, stubbornly continued its journey. When the believers stopped to rest and pray, the bird also stopped. At the last halt, she came close to the icon following with the procession. In total, the stork walked and flew after people for about four hours - or about fifteen kilometers, until the procession reached Belynichy.

The length of the route of this annual procession of the cross is about forty kilometers. This year, the traditional procession acquired a new meaning: a coronavirus outbreak was recorded in the regional center of Belynichi.
