According to the press service of the Sochi National Park, on the territory of the resort city, in the area of the village of Dagomys, the foundation and remains of the walls of the temple were discovered, the time of construction of which archaeologists attribute to the High Middle Ages. According to the experts of the National Park on historical and cultural heritage, the building was originally a one-nave one-sided basilica. The dimensions of the building are 3.8x6.5 meters; it was built of blocks of porous stone, connected with lime mortar. Even part of the altar of the temple has been preserved. In addition, a large number of fragments of pottery from vessels in which wine, oil and other liquid substances used in church life were stored were found at the excavation site. Experts suggest that the basilica - like the remains of the Argua temple found earlier in the Khosta district of Sochi - was built by Abaza Christians. In addition to themselves, the temple was visited by merchants who followed through these places along the trade route.
