In the commune of Hersheim am Berg (Rhineland-Palatinate), a general vote of the council adopted a decision on the further operation of the bell with the quote from Hitler 'Everything for the Fatherland'. This is reported by the German resource TheLocal.de with reference to the DPA news agency. The two hundred and forty kilogram bell, cast during the Third Reich, is decorated with a Gothic inscription and a swastika. The local community turned to the council of the commune with a proposal to replace it with a new one, which would not remind of gloomy times for Germany. And this happened after the former church organist enlightened his fellow countrymen about the content of the inscriptions and images on the bell, to the sounds of which in the Evangelical Church of St. Jacob, many of them baptized babies and entered into marriages. However, the local council voted to leave the bell in place as a historical value (there is a corresponding expert opinion about this) - and just a reminder of the era that Germany still had. Perhaps a bell with a swastika and a mention of the Fuhrer would have looked much better in a local museum than on a church belfry. However, in order to dismantle it, and then cast and hang a new one, it will take about fifty thousand euros - but the community does not have that kind of money.
