Priest with coronavirus dies after giving his ventilator to another person

Catholic priest Giuseppe Berardelli for the sake of saving the life of another person, just like he, who was sick with coronavirus, gave him his own ventilator, and he died shortly after that. The 72-year-old priest served in one of the churches in the commune of Kaznigo, in the province of Bergamo. When Giuseppe's father became infected with COVID-19, the parishioners jointly bought a ventilator for him, since local hospitals lacked the necessary equipment of this kind for all patients. However, the priest insisted that the breathing resuscitation device be transferred to another, younger patient - with whom, by the way, Father Giuseppe was not even familiar. The priest died shortly thereafter.

Recall that due to the difficult epidemiological situation, the funeral ceremony, including farewell to the deceased, is currently prohibited throughout Italy. However, when the coffin with the body of Giuseppe's father was carried through the city streets, the local residents, going out onto the balconies, accompanied the priest on his last journey with applause.

“He was a simple and easy man, with a big heart and a willingness to help everyone, believers and unbelievers,” says the mayor of Kaznigo, Giuseppe Imberti, about the priest who passed away to the Lord God.
