A meeting of the Holy Synod was held at the Danilov Monastery in Moscow under the chairmanship of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. Its participants approved a number of liturgical texts, which were presented to their attention by the chairman of the Synodal Liturgical Commission, Metropolitan of Petrozavodsk and Karelian Constantine. As the Karelian news portal Respublika clarifies, the ruling bishop said that the troparion, the kontakion and the prayer to the Monk Jonah of Yashezersky are currently being prepared in the diocese under his charge. He also proposed for consideration the text of a special prayer read before taking the medicine, which would be adopted subject to a number of amendments. The text of the prayer for taking medicine and other healing: “Lord, our God, having created a doctor and various healing, like the Scripture, to heal ailments and diseases, alleviate the gift! Look mercifully on me, a sinner, forgive my iniquity and sins, heal my soul, give health to the body with this healing, yes, we will accept Your merciful help, I will serve You with all thanksgiving. As you are the Source of healings, and we glorify Thee, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and forever and ever. Amen.'
