The Council of New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia has been replenished with the names of new saints

In the Russian Orthodox Church, the veneration of new saints, numbered among the new martyrs and confessors of Russia, has been established. This was announced by Vladimir Legoyda, Chairman of the ROC Synodal Department for Relations with Society and the Media. The names of the saints and the dates of their celebration will be communicated to the local brotherly churches to be added to the month's words. Among the newly-glorified are Priest Alexander Andrianov (commemorated on November 25 in a new style), Archpriest Nikolai Chernyshev and his daughter Varvara (commemoration day on January 2, in a new style). In the face of the locally revered saint, the famous ascetic, the holy fool Catherine (Malkov-Panina), known for her perspicacity and gift of healing, a nun of the Pukhtitsa monastery (years of life: 1889-1968) is glorified. In the near future, an icon of the saint will be painted - and her remains, if found, will be venerated as relics. In addition, the calendar of the Russian Orthodox Church will be replenished with a dozen names of ascetics glorified by the local Romanian Church in 1950-2017. Among them - the monk Daniel the Hermit, long revered among the people, the confessor of the ruler Stephen the Third Great (15th century), as well as the enlightener and martyr Grand Duke Constantin Brykovyanu (1654-1714), together with four sons with special cruelty, killed by the Turks for sympathizing with the co-religionist Russia and refusal to convert to Islam.
