In the northern Italian town of Castellanza, a local church parish offered believers Christmas sets in a “bless yourself” format. Each of them includes a candle, a bottle of holy water, an instruction for self-blessing, a letter of congratulation from the archbishop and an envelope for donations. Such a set allows parishioners to receive a church blessing remotely without coming to the temple. The idea for the release of the set belongs to the Society of Saints Julius and Bernard. Many believers live very far from the church, others do not celebrate Christmas at home - and the parish priest, in turn, finds it difficult to visit all parishioners during the cold season. “We proposed this format taking into account the experience of the previous two years, when the practice of a priest visiting the families of our city encountered some difficulties,” Priest Walter Magny explained in his interview to RIA Novosti.
