In a few months, the third edition of the Roman Missal will come into force - a liturgical book containing the succession of the Mass in accompanying texts: statutory headings, variable parts, and a calendar. This was announced by the President of the Italian Episcopal Conference, Cardinal Gualtiero Bassetti, inform Vatican News. This news would remain narrowly confessional and would be of interest only to the children of the Western Church - however, there is a nuance that makes it important for a much wider audience. The text of the prayers 'Our Father' and 'Glory to God in the highest' have been transferred to the new missal from the 2008 Bible translation, which has already been approved by the Italian episcopate and is used in liturgical readings. In particular, the prayer 'Our Father' in a new version of the word 'lead us not into temptation,' replaced by 'do not give us the temptation', and the phrase 'as we forgive our debtors' supplemented by the word' and »(anche), of which there before it was not. In the hymn 'Glory to God in the highest' the words 'Peace on earth to people of good will' are replaced by others: 'Peace on earth to people of His goodwill.' The latest revisions are related to a more accurate translation of the Holy Gospel, completed eleven years ago.
