On Sunday, June 3, in Nanuet, New York, a monument was unveiled to one of the most revered Russian saints - the Monk Seraphim of Sarov. Its installation is timed to the anniversary of the adoption of the act of canonical communion between the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate and the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, which was signed in 2007 by Patriarch Alexy II and Metropolitan Laurus in the Moscow Cathedral of Christ the Savior. According to the NSN North American News Agency, Anatoly Antonov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the United States, took part in the opening ceremony of the monument. In his speech, he noted that the installation of the sculpture is an important milestone on the path of preserving the Russian spiritual and historical heritage on the American continent and a great event for the entire Russian community in the United States. The sculpture of the Monk Seraphim is installed in the Stavropigial Dormition Novo-Diveevsky Convent. The monastery also houses the largest Russian Orthodox cemetery in the United States.
