More churches and chapels are being built in the capital of Russia than in any other city in the world - this was stated by the head of the press service of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, Priest Alexander Volkov during a press conference held on the eve of the celebration of the Holy Resurrection of Christ.
“There is not a single city in the world, especially not a single capital, where so many churches would be built at the same time. And these temples are being built for people. We see that they are crowded with people not only at Easter. At least everything is filled in exactly, ”the priest said, calling Moscow a unique city in this sense. Since 2011, in the capital of the Russian Federation, there has been a program for the construction of churches in the sleeping areas of the city. Since then and to this day, fifty stone churches have already been built in Moscow; another twenty are under construction. The project called 'Program-200' is being implemented by the Foundation for Supporting the Construction of Churches in the City of Moscow with the participation of the Moscow Government.
