As the magazine 'Thomas' reports with reference to the website of the Russian Church Abroad, on September 21, a new cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church was consecrated in London. The rite of great consecration was performed by Archbishop Mark of Berlin and Germany. Immediately after the consecration, the first Divine Liturgy was served in the Cathedral. It was performed by Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad. Many Orthodox believers who gathered here on this significant day from all over the United Kingdom prayed at the solemn service. The first liturgy was attended by distinguished guests: Prince Michael of Kent and others. At the end of the service, church awards were presented to all those who showed diligence in building and decorating the new church. The events of the festive day ended with a solemn reception for all who came to the consecration of the new Cathedral of the Russian Church Abroad.
