The icon of the Mother of God 'Beijing' was written in the capital of China

Икона Божией Матери «Пекинская» написана в столице Китая
A parishioner of the Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, operating at the Russian embassy in China, painted the image of the Mother of God. Archpriest Dionisy Pozdnyaev, rector of the Hong Kong Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, spoke about this on his Facebook page. The new image, he notes, complemented the iconography of the Chinese icons of the Blessed Virgin, joining the ranks of the revered churches of Port Arthur, Harbin and Hong Kong. The “Peking” icon depicts the Mother of God kneeling down on her Divine Son in heaven against the background of a typical Chinese mountain landscape, as well as the plan of ancient Beijing, symbolizing the expectation of the light of Christ's truth. On the sides of the icon are biblical prophets, apostles and angelic orders. Recall that in connection with the atheistic internal policy of the People's Republic of China, the very small Assumption Church at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Beijing is one of the few active Orthodox churches in a huge country with a population of nearly one and a half billion people. Orthodox Christians in China, who do not have the opportunity to pray in churches, most often gather for divine services in their private apartments.
