In the Elnikovsky district of the Republic of Mordovia, in the village of Starodevichye, there is a church consecrated in the name of one of the most revered Orthodox saints - St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, Archbishop Mir of Lycia. Its abbot, Abbot Anastasy (Doronin) undertook to personally paint it from the inside, according to Izvestia Mordovia. The Nikolsky Church in Starodevichy is completely new, the services in it have been performed for only a year and a half. Before that, believers from all over the village gathered for joint prayer in the premises of the former store. Now they have a temple, which will soon receive the original painting. Started two years ago, it is designed in the Byzantine style, which is rare for rural churches in Russia, although the Old Russian style was not forgotten by the Father Superior. It should be noted that Abbot Anastasy has already painted the altar of the temple in the village of Urey the Third and the temple in the village of Molchanovo, where he also bears the obedience of the rector and cares for the local church community.
