Temple of Marines in Baltiysk consecrated in the name of Alexander Nevsky

Храм морпехов в Балтийске освятили во имя Александра Невского
The name of the holy noble Prince Alexander Nevsky was given to the temple on the territory of the Marine Corps unit in the city of Baltiysk, the consecration of which took place at the main naval base of the Baltic Fleet of Russia on November 30.

As the magazine 'Foma' reports with reference to the press service of the Baltic Fleet, the temple was consecrated by Archbishop of Kaliningrad and Baltic Seraphim. For the rite of consecration, the commander of the Baltic Fleet, Vice-Admiral Alexander Nosatov, military personnel of the unit, veterans of the marines, relatives and friends of the marines prayed together. The temple, consecrated in honor of the patron saint of the Russian marines, is memorial: it was built with donations in memory of the servicemen who gave their lives 'for their friends.' A unique feature of the temple is the unusual belfry, the design of which combines the symbols of the cross, dome, bell and anchor. At the base of the belfry there are capsules filled with earth from the places where the formations of the Russian marines are based: Vladivostok, Sevastopol, Kaspiysk and the village of Sputnik, Murmansk region.
