Despite the fact that the countries that are considered to be Christian have the most powerful military-technical potential and political influence, thousands of Christians die from year to year in the world, taking death for their confession at the hands of the Gentiles. According to Reuters, citing the Open Doors Protestant organization, between November 2016 and October 2017 alone, at least 3,066 Christians of various faiths and denominations were killed on the planet. Most of the people who died during this period of time were victims of the Islamist group 'Boko Haram', which operates in Nigeria, not inferior in cruelty and bloodthirstiness to another banned organization - ISIS. In general, Africa remains the most dangerous region of the planet for Christians; at the same time, the persecution of followers of this religion is intensifying in Southeast Asia. The situation in India and Pakistan is of great concern. During the indicated time period, in Pakistan alone, 168 churches were attacked or closed, and 110 Christians (out of 1922 worldwide) are imprisoned. The worst persecution of Christians today is in North Korea. Also on the list of countries persecuting people who believe in Christ are Afghanistan, Somalia, Sudan, Pakistan, Eritrea, Libya, Iraq, Yemen, Iran and India. In total, 215 million Christians live in states where the level of persecution is the highest.
