In the north of the Russian capital, in the Khovrino district, the construction of the first large wooden temple complex in Moscow is nearing completion. The information center of the Moscow Government announced the imminent completion of work at the facility on Klinskaya Street.

The wooden church on a monolithic foundation will be connected to the parish house by covered galleries. The house of the clergyman is brick, topped with a hipped bell tower; work on the belfry's tent is ongoing.

The temple complex is designed for six hundred parishioners; it is being built exclusively on voluntary donations as part of the program for the construction of Orthodox churches in Moscow. The construction site has already been inspected by Vladimir Resin, who is in charge of the program, advisor to the Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin and Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill.

“The wooden temple with a hipped roof is one of the most unusual temples in the area. It was built according to an individual project from larch using traditional technologies. All construction work was carried out by hand, including assembly, as the ancient masters did, ”says Sergey Lyovkin, head of the Department of Urban Planning politics of the city of Moscow.

To date, the interior decoration of the upper church has already been completed; in the lower part, interior work is still ongoing. The floors have already been laid in the temple complex, all the necessary communications have been laid. In the main, upper church of the complex, a stone iconostasis, made by the craftsmen of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, is being installed. Icons for him are currently being created by experienced icon painters. The interior of the main church was decorated with a large chandelier with the image of the twelve apostles.

The temple complex in Khovrin is expected to be fully completed by May next year. In September, the first wooden church of this capacity in Moscow is planned to be consecrated.
