This issue was discussed on April 8 at a meeting of the clergy of the diocese chaired by Metropolitan Varsonofy of St. Petersburg and Ladoga with the participation of the rectors of the churches of St. Alexander Nevsky in Krasnoe Selo, Shuvalov, Ust-Izhora and a number of others. - The jubilee of the 800th anniversary of the birth of St. Alexander Nevsky will be celebrated at a high state level. In 2014, the President of Russia signed a decree on the celebration, an organizing committee was created with the participation of representatives of the federal government and the Russian Orthodox Church, and the first meeting was held. At the diocesan level, careful preparation is also necessary: it is in St. Petersburg that the relics of the Grand Duke rest, he is the heavenly patron of the city, many churches are named in his honor, - said Metropolitan Barsanuphius at the meeting.
