Early Life and Carmelite Origins

Preaching and Gift of Prophecy

In Italy, Angelus was known for his fiery preaching against heresy and corruption. He was said to possess the gift of prophecy and performed miracles of healing and conversion. His sermons often challenged both the common people and those in positions of power.

Martyrdom

While preaching in Licata, Sicily, Angelus publicly denounced the incestuous relationship of a local nobleman. As a result, he was attacked and murdered at the doors of the church. Before dying, he forgave his murderers and foretold their repentance.

Veneration and Legacy

Venerated as a martyr soon after his death, Saint Angelus was buried in Licata, where his tomb became a site of pilgrimage. He is honored as one of the first saints of the Carmelite Order and the patron of those suffering injustice and persecution.
