From olden times, famous as a valuable gift, the sweet-scented anointing oil has been exported from the Holy Land to other countries of the Christian world. The product represents a unique blend of olive oil, myrrh and forty fragrances added according to the order of service — thus giving a special health power to the faithful. This anointing oil was blessed on the Stone of Anointing at the Temple of the Holy Sepulcher and has a distinctive fragrance of jasmine.

The holy oil is mentioned in the Old Testament books. After the Crucifixion, it was used to anoint Christ’s body — this is where the name of the Stone of Anointing comes from. This chrism is used in the sacrament of Chrismation or Confirmation; by tradition monarchs are anointed when ascending the throne. Anointing oil symbolizes the seal of the gift of the Holy Spirit. Primates of the local churches have the right to produce this holy oil, but the one brought from Jerusalem – the Holy Land’s heart – is considered to be the most blessing. Aside from the use in church rites, it can be also used by laypeople: for example, you may buy a cross necklace and from time to time anoint it with holy oil, anoint yourself, rubbing the sore spots or use it as fragrance.
