On May 9, on the day of the 75th anniversary of the Victory, in the village of Bolshaya Shilna (Republic of Tatarstan), a ceremony was held to consecrate a new monument to the participants in the bloodiest war in the history of civilization. The war memorial, located near the Church of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity, was consecrated by its rector, Archpriest Rafail Mironov. At the end of the consecration, a memorial service was held, followed by a memorial prayer for the front-line soldiers who did not live up to the anniversary date.
According to the portal 'Orthodoxy in Tatarstan', there are 226 names on the plaques of the memorial. They belong to the soldiers who died in battles, disappeared without a trace during the Great Patriotic War - as well as those who had a chance to return from the war and live in the post-war years. “The temple is located in the center of the village, so it was decided to erect a monument next to it,” Father Raphael explained.
After the requiem, the father-rector addressed the villagers who had come to the consecration of the memorial. He noted that although not one of the front-line soldiers survived until the 75th anniversary of the Victory, by the grace of the Lord God, those who forged victory in the rear are still alive. “We have been living without war for 75 years. We do not hear the roar of bombers, the roar of guns and the whistle of bullets. The victory came at a high price, and we must remember the feat of the front-line soldiers and home front workers. We must know our history and must do everything necessary to prevent a revision of the results of World War II, ”the rector said. Trinity Church.
