Russian Catholics held prayer vigils to protect the lives of unborn children

In parishes and communities of the Roman Catholic Church in Russia, penitential services were held in memory of the children who died as a result of abortions and in defense of the life of those in the mother's womb. In the Moscow Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the prayer vigil before the Holy Gifts on the night of November 17-18 was led by the rector of the church, Father Vladimir Kabak. Later, dozens of other countries around the world joined the disastrous initiative. It is to this mournful date that the common prayer of Russian Catholics is timed. Prayer vigils are held on the initiative of the participants in the spiritual program 'Rachel's Vineyard' aimed at healing a person after an abortion. The initiative was supported by the Conference of Catholic Bishops of Russia. As noted by the general secretary of KKER, Stefan Lipke, on November 18, as well as in the previous and subsequent days, the faithful pray for the repose of the children killed in the womb, as well as for the salvation of the souls of those who had an abortion; clergymen say the same in their sermons. During repentance vigils before the Holy Gifts and Holy Masses for the protection of life, Catholics ask for forgiveness for the legalization of infanticide and pray for the conversion of those who are somehow involved in promoting abortion. A special prayer is made for those who, on the contrary, defend the right to life of unborn children, help pregnant women and families who find themselves in difficult life circumstances. Western Christians from a number of neighboring countries are also taking part in the initiative along with Russian Catholics.
