Venerable Seraphim - the miracle worker from Sarov

Преподобный Серафим – чудотворец из Сарова
January 15 The Russian Orthodox Church commemorates the Monk Seraphim of Sarov. The most, perhaps, the revered Russian saint and miracle worker.

Even in his youth, Prokhor (that was the name of the future saint in the world) matured the decision to fully devote his life to God and go to a monastery. The pious mother did not interfere with this and blessed him on the monastic path with a crucifix, which the monk wore on his chest all his life. Prokhor with the pilgrims went on foot from Kursk to Kiev to worship the Pechersk saints. After spending eight years as a novice in the Sarov monastery, Prokhor received monastic tonsure with the name Seraphim. The Lord vouchsafed the monk with grace-filled visions during church services: on several occasions he saw the holy Angels co-serving the brethren. During one of the services, the Monk Seraphim saw the Lord Jesus Christ walking through the air from the western doors of the temple, surrounded by Heavenly Ethereal Forces. Reaching the pulpit. The Lord blessed all worshipers and entered the local image to the right of the royal gates. The Monk Seraphim, gazing at the wondrous apparition in spiritual delight, could not speak a word or leave his place.

The future saint spent several years in a deserted cell in a deep forest. There he took the feat pillage - every night he climbed a huge stone in the forest and prayed with uplifted hands, crying out: 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.' During the day, he prayed in his cell, also on a stone he brought from the forest, leaving it only for a short rest and to replenish the body with meager food. So the monk prayed for 1000 days and nights. It is said that only birds and wild animals visited the elder in his solitude. Those who came to him for spiritual advice saw a large bear, which Father Seraphim fed with bread from his hands.

Everyone knew and honored Saint Seraphim as a great ascetic and miracle worker. Many miracles are associated with the source of Father Seraphim in the Sarov monastery. In 1903, a lame girl was brought to him, who could not find help from a serious illness anywhere - for 18 years he did not let her get out of bed. After the family dipped her into the spring three times, the sore leg got stronger, the girl recovered.

They pray to Father Seraphim:

About healing from serious ailments, since even during his lifetime the most hopeless patients were healed through his prayers.

About spiritual healing from all kinds of passions and finding peace.

On the cessation of evil attacks and temptations.

About choosing the right path in life.

Success in commercial affairs and in business.

About creating strong family unions.

About peace and harmony in the family, about finding harmony and well-being

About mental fortitude and about finding a balance between the inner world and the circumstances of life.
