Pope called it a sin to harm the ecology of the planet
18 Novembar 2019
Pope Francis said that thinking about global warming led him to believe that harm to the environment is a separate sin. The Pontiff came to this conclusion at the end of a three-week assembly on fires in the Amazon rainforest, which the Roman Catholic Church organized last month.
In his Friday speech, Pope Francis recalled that “protecting our common home” is the sacred duty of any person, from a simple believer to the head of a church. Recognition of the harm to the environment as a separate sin, which will be officially added to the list of the latter, will help every Catholic to more consciously relate to this problem, which concerns both all mankind and every Christian personally.
