Plaques with the names of university saints appeared on the church of Moscow State University

На храме МГУ появились доски с именами университетских святых

At the church in the name of the Martyr Tatiana at the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, memorial plaques were installed. They immortalize the memory of 21 saints glorified by the Church, whose life is somehow connected with Moscow State University. This is reported by the youth Internet magazine 'Tatiana's Day' with reference to facebook of the rector of the church of the Martyr Tatiana, Archpriest Vladimir Vigilyansky.

Next year, the student church at Moscow State University will celebrate the 25th anniversary of its revival. Now the temple is undergoing renovation work. It was decided to install plaques with the names of the saints, without waiting for their completion. Recall that these very memorial plaques on January 25, 2019, on Tatiana's day, were consecrated by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia in the presence of the rector of Moscow State University, academician Viktor Sadovnichy, members of the faculty corporation, students and graduates of the university.

To this day, the clerics and parishioners of the Church of the Martyr Tatiana have collected information about twenty new martyrs and confessors of Russia (two of them in episcopal dignity) who studied or taught at the Moscow State university and suffered during the years of godless persecution in the period from the late twenties to the early forties of the last century.

By now, thanks to the efforts of the clergy, parishioners and friends of the church, information has been collected about twenty saints who in different years studied or taught at Moscow University. Another name belongs to Saint Philaret (Drozdov), Metropolitan of Moscow and Kolomna, who since 1828 was listed as an honorary member of Moscow University, and in 1837 he performed the rite of consecration of the student Tatian Church here. In the name of Saint Philaret, her lower temple was consecrated.
