Georgian Church will not change the rules of communion

The Synod of the Georgian Orthodox Church decided not to change the established procedure for the communion of believers. The liar used for this will not be replaced by disposable spoons; it will be possible to use disposable dishes only to drink the warmth after communion. This is stated in the resolution of the Synod, which was announced by the secretary of the meeting, Metropolitan Andriy of Gori and Aten.

“The Eucharist is the main meaning of the Christian life, the Eucharistic ties unite us with Jesus Christ and with each other. Holy Communion is a medicine of soul and flesh for those who share church rules. That is why it is always unacceptable for church members to question the essence of the sacrament of the sacrament. For example, this is expressed in the rejection of a common spoon, as a source of the spread of infection, ”reads the resolution adopted by the participants in the meeting of the Synod, chaired by the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II.

At the same time, the Synod made a number of recommendations, the implementation of which will help reduce the risk of infection. Thus, people at risk can turn to the temple with a request for execution of demands at home - this will not be denied even to those who are in self-isolation or quarantine. In addition, in order to avoid crowding of people inside the buildings, the courtyards of the temples will be equipped with powerful audio systems so that believers can offer prayers during services outside.

The Georgian Orthodox Church expressed its readiness to cooperate in every possible way with the state to combat the pandemic, including admitting patients to hospitals belonging to the patriarchy, if necessary. In its resolution, the Synod praised the measures to combat the spread of coronavirus, taken 'with high professionalism by all government agencies, and especially by healthcare workers.'
