Liturgical practice in the Russian Orthodox Church will not change due to coronavirus

Due to the threat of the spread of the coronavirus, the order of prayer and liturgical practice in the Russian Orthodox Church will not be changed. The Church also has no special recommendations regarding the conduct of Lent this year. Vladimir Legoyda, head of the Synodal Department for Church Relations with Society and the Media, told reporters about this. At the same time, the portal news.ru notes, Legoyda added that the recommendations of doctors on the prevention of viral diseases must still be followed, and in case of symptoms of ARVI, immediately contact the clinic.

Recall that in Europe, due to the spread of the coronavirus, a considerable number of operating churches have been closed - as well as those that work as museums. In particular, the Italian authorities insist on the suspension of liturgical practice at Orthodox parishes in this country, which invariably causes protests from parishioners and clergy who refuse to obey this demand.
