Mother-of-Pearl Cross Necklace

The Church recognizes all shapes of the cross that have an established Christian tradition and are related to some events in the church history. This necklace is made of olive tree wood and was blessed on the Stone of Anointing at Jerusalem’s Temple of the Holy Sepulcher. There is no figure of Jesus Christ on the cross – instead it features an additional eight-pointed cross. As we know from the New Testament, Our Lord Jesus Christ met the atoning death on a cross just like that one. At the level of His footstep was an inclined beam and above His head was the sign reading “INRI — Jesus, King of the Jews”. In deep respect for the Passions of Jesus during crucifixion, this eight-pointed cross is inlaid with mother-of-pearl.
